Food Finds : The Hotest Pasta in the world (it's in Cambridge, MA baby!)

East Coast Grill on Urbanspoon
I worked at Harvard University for 3 astronomy projects. I loved just strolling down to Cambridge and trying the Caribbean, Thai and other food. While I took in many restaurants, I missed this place. I was in Providence in March but I wish I was also back in April to run up to Boston and try this famous night’s hottest entrees. A special night and a menu that includes the hottest delectable entrees featured here in the entertaining Travel Channel’s Man vs Food.
The hottest grub was rated on a scale of 1-9 with the hottest being the Pasta from Hell, the featured entree of this episode while engaged with the East Coast Grill not rated #32 most popular restaurant and the #9 (now) best fine dining rating.

The hottest pasta in the World uses the hottest goat chili. He survived it. I don’t usually go for really hot items preferring to opt for spicy and flavorful versus just HOT.

When I make it here sometime I might try the

9.50
Smoked Duck Leg ... with Pineapple - Red Curry, Coconut & Chick Pea Crisp (4 Bombs)
or
9.50
Dry Fried Chile Squid Taco ...with Roasted Green Chili
or
Boston Bay Spit - Roasted Jerk 1/2 Chicken ... with Inner Beauty Hot Sauce, Banana Guava Ketchup, Rice N' Beans, Plantains & Callaloo Greens (5 Bombs)
17.50

On the road again: some grub from Watertown's Sevan Bakery

Sevan's Bakery on Urbanspoon
http://www.sevanboston.com/
Sometimes I discover gastronomic finds through my relatives. Sometimes they bring me interesting foods to try. While I was in Providence, RI to visit, my sister came by and brought a condiment spread from this bakery. The very greasy but delectable nut red pepper spread went well on crackers, pita and more. That is all about I knew of the bakery until I looked into their website. Armenian and other European and Asian fare, I could not figure out whether they have a small restaurant area inside or just cater or do takeout. In any case, someday I will make it to this tasty bakery now that I know more about via my sister and this spread. Someday I will make it to this place to see it in person. Meanwhile my sister and brother in law told me about several places in New York City that we had to try. We ate at the famous Sarabeth’s and noshed on the groceries we got and more at the amazing Zabar’s (see my NYC review coming up). In the meantime, I will scourer more bakeries in the Kansas City area too because they are part of the food scene too.

Restaurants are cutting back because of economy- which ones and how?

First one up was that at Ruby Tuesday, one person did not like that they are cutting corners at this restaurant (at least at this particular one) by not bringing out the whole steak sauce bottle but just some.
Last week we again went to RT in Olathe, KS as their 2:1 coupon for specials and steaks can’t be beat and the salad bar is awesome (It is now in my top 3 salad bars in Kansas City). My wife does not take sauce but I usually get A-1 or some other sauce to go with the steak. However this time I did not as the steak came with a cheese- mushroom sauce (I decided to try something different).
Some restaurants (PF Chang’s in this article) are cutting corners by not putting out steak knives cutlery but we were brought ours for our steak dinners.
At one Outback, they are not serving a dinner salad and it is extra. At RT, there are veggies with certain entrees but many entrees include the salad bar. I decided not to get some other entrees because the salad bar is extra for some entrees so I stuck with the steak which came with the entree plus had mashed potatoes and some veggies and tiny onion ring bits which were nice and crunchy (seems like little bits of Bloomin Onion from Outback Steakhouse which I have always wanted to get but the cholesterol and the calories are so high these are not recommended. But little bits would not hurt!).
There are 58 slides to go through this slide show (haven’t you noticed how AOL and others are doing things like slide shows and videosto increase revenues to make you stick around longer , looking at the ads on your desktop so that they can charge more for their services to the companies?) .
I don’t have time to go through all of them now but you can. If you noticed any of these “cutbacks” or others let me know.

No Name restaurant in Boston - call it pretty good seafood

No Name Restaurant on Urbanspoon
I had to come here. Why ? I mean what kind of a restaurant has a name called " No Name" anyway? Actually a pretty good one.We traveled here. I make salmon all the time so I went here with the grilled bluefish. It was nicely priced and the fish was succulent with great flavor.

Stromboli's was a volcano and this restaurant's pizza was hot

Stromboli's on Urbanspoon A few years ago my sister took me to this place (posted on the take out menu as Newtonville). While I don't see this location on Urbanspoon I believe it is part of that chain. I remember the inside the smell of the Italian dishes. I believe I tried the Giadrdinni " a garden fresh vegetable pizza with onion, mushrooms and mozzorella. I remembered the place and the pizza and it was very good.

Legal Seafood : its criminal to be this good (at a price)

Legal Sea Foods on Urbanspoon While there quite a few seafood and fish restaurants from Boston to Providence, Legal Seafood is one that stands out. Starting from one location, locations have blossomed. And through the years so have the menus and prices. We have eaten at the original Legal Seafood and at one of the outlying ones for years. My parents use to go to the one near Providence quite a lot. I remember, eating freshly grilled bluefish with blackened spicy seasonings. Another time with my son, we tried the excellent "chowda" and enjoyed broiled scrod. There are a lot more pricier dishes like grilled swordfish, baked shrimp, Maryland crab, seafood casserole and more The baked sole has also been good.I can't believe it but there are even steaks steaks here but that doesn't quite seem right let alone eating beef here. They must be doing something right as Legal has always been good and consistently makes the grade with succulent seafood of all kinds of types. While there are many seafood restaurants, you have to eat at one of these branches at least once. It's part of my culinary memories for years and still will be when I get back from Kansas to visit family, in the future.

Middle Eastern food around the corner

Sabra Restaurant on Urbanspoon My siste lives in Newton. When I visit we have eaten here once or twice. The menu is not extensive. Middle Eastern appetizers, ( Middle Eastern ) Entrees, specialties, salads and sandwiches dot the menu. We nibbled on the homus (ground chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice) and baba ghanoush ( smoked eggplant combined with tahini sesame , oilve oil , lemom juice and garlic and spices ) that we, of course , ate with pita bread. We were eating light so that is all we had. But we will be back.
