St Louis...From one Fleisher to another Flescher...

St Louis pizza is a thin crust pizza that has a bottom crust resembling that of many frozen pizzas on the market. The pizza is cut into squares much like the rest of the Midwest (Chicago & Milwaukee) but the real key difference is that they also use a signature cheese called "Provel", an unholy marriage of Velveeta & Provolone. Imo’s is the place most famous for it, but they do it about the worst. The best rendition I’ve ever experienced of it was at Tucker Place near Downtown St Louis.

If you ever get a chance to get to Racine, WI (about 25 miles south of Milwaukee) Wells Brothers is about the best of the other Midwest style pizzas called “Tavern” or cracker crust thin. And one more thing; when you order Pizzas in St. Louis, Chicago or Milwaukee, try to forget for a moment that you’re a former east coaster and just get the sausage! It’s what we do best, pepperoni is more of a 2nd favorite with us.

-Burt

I like your blog BTW!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08071378349663753874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-193681104867203736.post-83345210120011233972009-08-30T16:50:25.011-05:002009-08-30T16:50:25.011-05:00Thank you for posting this recipe, I watched the s...Thank you for posting this recipe, I watched the show today and this sounded so good. He used Maryland lumb crab instead of Maine crab. I made his recipe and was not a fan. The blue corn meal coating made them taste "gritty or sandy." I was so excited to see a Bueno here in Kansas City, and I will often drive out of my way.

My regular is a MexiDips and Chips with Muchaco and Medium drink, for about $5. You get a plate full of fresh, crispy chips with queso and refried beans (in tortilla bowls) and a nicely sized portion of fresh guacomole. A muchaco rounds out the meal - like an overstuffed taco in a soft flatbread type of shell - oh so good. The medium drink is the size of any other place's large, and you may help yourself to free refills as you wish.

I did try the tamale platter last time I visited the Blue Springs Bueno - and it was very satisfying and full of flavor.

Even vegetarians, health conscious, and children will enjoy Taco Bueno. On Wednesdays, kids meals are just 99 cents. They come with a taco, burrito, or quesadilla, cinnamon chips (but they will sub nacho chips), a drink, and currently, a VeggieTales toy.

Try out Bueno.
