Dinner Impossible : a Yahoo challenge

On Tax day on took my taxes to the office to get mailed. Meanwhile later on this day. Chef Robert Irvine had his own deadline challenge on YV. The episode was A Yahoo Dinner Impossible, I love to mix things up but this mission took it tech wise. The yahoo found took the top Yahoo search foods and then randomly paired those with the top 15 ingredients. From that the Chef and his crew could create dishes from that meet the objectives of the mission.It was tough and came down to the wire. But them came up with a host of recipes that food the bill. These are ones that I would like make so I am showcasing them here. If you try them let me know otherwise I will let you know what I try them.

Tuna Burger

Recipe courtesy Robert Irvine

Show: Dinner: Impossible Episode: Yahoo Search Scramble
Ingredients

* 1/3 cup minced onion
* 2 cloves chopped garlic
* 3 tablespoons canola oil
* 1 pound fresh tuna, diced
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
* Hot sauce (recommended: Tabasco, optional
* Cooking spray
* 4 hamburger buns
* 2 tomatoes, sliced
* 1/4 pound Brie, sliced
* Sliced kosher pickles
* Wasabi, for serving, optional

Directions

In a small saucepan saute the onion and garlic in oil until tender (without burning the garlic) and set aside to cool.

Combine tuna, eggs, bread crumbs, onion mixture, and hot sauce, in a medium bowl and mix well. Shape into 4 patties (mixture will be very soft and delicate). Refrigerate for 30 minutes to make the patties easier to handle. Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and fry tuna patties for about 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until cooked through. These are fragile, so be careful when turning them. Serve on buns with tomato slices, Brie and kosher pickles. You may decide to serve wasabi on the side.

Dinner Impossible : Chef Robert Irvin has returned

Chef Robert Irvin has returned!!! While the Food Network has not really said much about this, it seemed that this return was hatched even when before he was banished for a few shows. You could "feel it". Perhaps the Food Network knew about Irvin’s “slight” misrepresentation of his resume and kept it under wraps until a source found out about it. But it seemed like he would be coming back not matter how good Iron Chef Michael Symon did on his version of the show. Don't get me wrong. I really liked the way Chef Symon pulled off the Cleveland kosher MI assignment even though he is a champion of pork. It was priceless seeing him walking around with yarmulke (skull cap)too. Don’t get me wrong, I like Chef Symon but I really liked the Mission Impossible thing with the car, “ good morning Robert ...” and all of that . As another site said, maybe it’s Irvin’s muscles that also brought in more women on the show and you know how Food Network is all about ratings. I mean they gave a show to someone who can't cook or act or do anything. I would never watch the show that Adam (The Next Food Network Star)is on. He never should have made it to the semis.
I don’t know but I am glad he is back. I am back watching it. Here are some recipes from this episode that I would like to try in the future. You all might beat me to the punch and if so let me know what you think.

Michael Symon never did kosher : Is this dinner imposssible?

Michael Symon is a great chef, an Iron Chef but loves his pork (he even has a tatoo with Pork on it) and does not know anything about kosher. Apparently this might have been taken last April or so or made special for this Dinner Impossible. He had to get Kosher stuff from the Supermarket but he could only get Kosher for Passover. For a dessert he had ingredients but this one was not kosher for Passover but everything else was. He got the brisket going and turned out a great meal for the congregation with some different little twists like this Salmono kugel.

I was looking for some recipes on Dinner Impossible when I saw Irvine was being canned!

Looking for some recipes on Dinner Impossible, I saw Irvine was being canned! How come I did not know about this sooner? It happened more then a month ago.

Shades of the next Food star who was hoisted (some how because he never should have made it to the finals over Amy) to the finals when it was found he lied about his background. Now the same with Dinner Impossible. I really liked the show , it was creative, fun and different. And there were good recipes to look for and try based on the themes.

Food Network: Robert Irvine Out As Host Of 'Dinner: Impossible'
Published on March 01 2008, 05:54:00 by TBO

At a about 12:15 p.m. today, Food Network spokeswoman Lisa DelColle e-mailed me a statement by network president Brooke Johnson saying that Irvine will finish the rest of the production schedule but will be replaced as host at the end of the season:

NEW YORK (AP) - After rising to culinary stardom preparing impossible meals on his Food Network series, Robert Irvine has met an obstacle his kitchen prowess couldn't overcome - an embellished resume.

The star of "Dinner: Impossible" has acknowledged fabricating some of the more fantastic parts of his resume, including having cooked for Britain's Royal Family and various U.S. presidents.

Following the revelations, the network announced it would not renew Irvine's contract, though it would air the remaining episodes of the current season, the series' fourth.

"I was wrong to exaggerate in statements related to my experiences in the White House and the Royal Family," Irvine said in a written statement. "I am truly sorry for misleading people and misstating the facts."

The Food Network said it might revisit its decision at the end of this season, but for now would begin searching for a new host for the series, which challenged Irvine to cook under arduous conditions.

"We rely on the trust that our viewers have in the accuracy of the information we present, and Robert challenged that trust," the network said in a written release.

Irvine, who is from England, first acknowledged the fabrications in a Feb. 17 story in the St. Petersburg Times.
