Wendy's frosty are thee thing to get

Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers on UrbanspoonMany years ago this place had a salad bar I believe. I've been here several times of the years not for the salad but sometimes burgers but mostly those luscious Frostys. There was a show about it once and it was explained how they have a special way of mixing it up to give these delectable drink/ desserts/ ice cream (it's all for me) their characteristically different shake like consistency. It's just different and it is my favorite. We have had the salads BTW in Wichita, from different conferences that catered Wendy's and they have been pretty good. But when I think of Wendy's it's the Frosty I think about.
Actually the Chili (all you can eat ) is pretty good and taste and meaty t00.
Seems like there are other ways to make a Frosty

Here is the copy cat recipe

I am surprised . It can ‘t be this easy to make , can it?

Found this copycat recipe and HAD to post it for all the Frosties lovers! Note that the recipe does not specify what flavour ice cream to use, but I'm guessing vanilla, or perhaps chocolate. Try both! Prep time includes softening time of ice cream.
SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 cup Nestles Quik
• 3 cups ice cream, softened in fridge for one hour
Directions
1. 1
Put all ingredients in blender; blend until Quik is incorporated; serve immediately.

Bill Cosby: A humorus Culinary story

Eric Felten, a columnist for the Walt Street Journal wrote this interesting food story about one of Bill Cosby's, culinary adventures. Mr. Cosby could not understand some menus but he just ordered thinking whatever would come would be good. What arrived was a barbecued sparrow "compete with head, feet, toenails- everything". He "wanted " to eat his mistake" but how? In a true American way, he put the bird between two pieces of bread for a sandwich and gobbled it down. It did not sit well, in Mr. Cosby's stomach. He did not feel well. Nothing helped except finally trying bitter drink called Fernet-Branca. As the article said " the bird saw this elixir coming and started running and "so did " Mr. Cosby.
It has been used as a morning after concoction and a stomach settler. As someone said " when you down your Fernet, , you're so happy it's gone you're bound to feel better".
I've never tasted and I probably won't. If you have email me and tell me what you thought.

Love the coffee not Starbucks

McDonald's on UrbanspoonThis MacDonalds is convenient going to and from Kansas City/ Lawrence and when I am stormchasing. Grab a quick bite, easy. I've eaten at many other McDonald's over the years (who hasn't) in Lawrence, Kansas City and elsewhere. I have been here and at other time based on the new foods and beverages etc that come out while trying some of the ones that have been out for years, once in awhile. I am not much for chains but breakfast is a little different story. With family we go out, but by myself or with the two of us, we hit the local fast foods more often then not. I don't like Starbucks coffees. I really like and think the McCafe coffees and iced Mocha and iced coffees are very good. Who hasn't been to McDonald's for other food? When my kids were younger they wanted to go not for the food but mostly for the prizes/gifts that came with them. This drove me crazy. Now they are in college, so I go when I want. Times have changes as McDonald's now doles out healthy snacks and meals. Still the Saturated fats make up many entrees. I get burgers once in awhile but they are still not my favorite. They regular hamburgers are cheap ( I prefer charbroiled ones). Once in awhile I will get a Big Mac or quarter pounder but definitely not the healthiest thing. The fries, people say are the best, I rarely eat (want something better try sweet potato fries- hmm why doesn't McDonald's have them?). Not many know, it's the shakes that really made the company grow as the they bought the best shake-maker of that time and that along with the fries really "exploded the business upward". I rarely get the shakes (I prefer the Wendy's Frosty). One item I might try is the new Lunch honey mustard snack wraps and compare them to other chains.

Sonic's Java Chiller is awesome but the foot long Hot dog is "not so hot"

The Java Chiller is an awesome coffee drink. The Mocha flavor is smooth and mixes well with this chilled drink. Even my wife liked it and she does not drink coffee. There are two other flavors too but they does melt as well. The onion rings are not too bad but they are fried a little bit too crispy. I feel that some of the items are overprices (like the regular burgers without lettuce and tomato). But watch out for the foot long hot dog. It probably is the worst hot dog I have ever tasted. It tastes too loose, its kind of slimy, soft and does not taste like a real hot dog. (I prefer good all beef ones). The onion rings are not too bad but they are fried a little bit too crispy. I feel that some of the items are overprices (like the regular burgers without lettuce and tomato). There is a new dollar menu but I have not tried any of the fare. I am not much for dining in my car, especially in cold winter. But I would try the Java Chiller anytime.

chili powder with hot chocolate : sounds crazy but it is good

I have heard about this for several years. My wife brought me some chili powder with hot chocolate poweder. It was very good. The chili powder balances out the hot chocolate. You get the sweet with a little kick which (trust me ) tastes good.
Make your own by taking some hot chocolate mix and then mixing with hot water. Then add a chili powder to taste. Its great. What do you think?

Best Summer Time Drink

I ditched seltzer/carbonated water to save money. I started drinking refreshing and easy iced tea. I started brewing it hot with my Mr.Coffee maker by putting tea leaves containter I bought from a Latin store (much cheaper then buying individual bags from local groceries). I love Earl Grey tea and I haver used this. What is interesting is that I can brew about 6-8 loads of the same tea before it gets too diluted. It starts out very dark but then gets lighter but still good to drink.

Meanwhile a new AOL poll about summer drinks showed this:7/23/2008

Earl Grey tea

I am a fan of Earl Grey tea.

It has a nice mellow but distinctive slight lemony flavor.

It is good with a little sugar or plain.

I started to make it in my Mr. Coffee coffee maker and let the water drip through either  the tea bags or bought some tea from a local Asian store.

I then some in a cup and add ice. An instant drink, cooling and refreshing, far better then pop. Also saves money!

Coffee Seattle's Best

I like coffee but not Starbucks blend. It is has chicoree or something in it and it tastes syrupy. I prefer Seattle Best coffee that I found at Borders in Overland Park, KS. There is a blend called Henry's blend which I like.

I buy a bag of it (some say buy coffee that was roasted 7 days or less ago) ground . They grind it. But I learned " Ground coffee loses a lot of its aromatics in the first minute after being ground" so I might have to rethink my methods.

Later I then have it percolated at home. I usually drink it with ice as iced coffee with some cream or milk substitute. It tastes so good I don't even need sugar. Sometimes I even put a little in with my cereal to give it an an added zip of flavor. What is nice is there is a "frequent flyer card" from Borders that you can use with your orders, drinks, etc. I got a free drink of my choice - a mango soda for free. Nice perk.

Coffee importances

I use am old Mr.Coffee to brew my coffee for hot coffee. I use paper filters but I read now cloth filters may be the better way. I then put the brewed coffee in the frig for ice coffee later. Others say only brew what you can make it in 20 minutes but I don't mind some waiting around. Maybe I am not that picky yet?

At AOL, I find some information that I needed to know. I've been doing things wrong! I knew air and light are enemies of coffee freshness. I've been storing the coffee bag in a plastic sealed bag but I was doing it wrong. The fridge and freezer are BIG no-nos ! Needed to be stored in either in a cupboard or an opaque container. If you're storing it in a bag, force the air out before

The ideal coffee-to-water ratio for the perfect cup is?

Well, that's up to your personal taste. A good starting point is 1 heaping tablespoon per 8 oz of coffee you want to end up with. Note - that's coffee coming out, not water going in. Experiment with your coffee maker. Some say 4 oz. to 1 tablespoon.to find something different. It tastes fine but could the coffee taste even better??

Maybe an inexpensive French press (a.k.a. press pot) might be the answer?

This is how it works.

Eclipse of Starbucks

Eclipse of Starbucks

All the Starbucks coffee houses across the US were closed for three
hours a couple of days ago for retraining of all their coffee-
dispensing personnel as the company repositioned itself. A
television comedy show parodied the event, and opened with a solar
eclipse adjusted to the subject. You can see some stills from the
parody at the URL given and, as fair use, a 21-second video on
youtube.com, by searching for "Eclipse of Starbucks." (It is
